If you think you remember coming to this house on Junius ... YOU DID! If you think you know what’s there (leftovers) ... YOU DON’T. There are some things you may remember seeing the 1st time, but 90% of everything this week is new (at least to you). Ralph and his helpers went down to the basement and hauled things up ... then went to the attics and brought things down ... and items on the 2nd floor ... well you can walk up the stairs and see for yourself the treasures that await. In case you didn’t attend the first sale here’s how we described it ...

The Estate of Betty Cook ... Actress, Dallas Morning News Writer, East Dallas Resident. An amazing woman ... an amazing estate sale. Long time residents of Dallas and Fort Worth will remember Betty Cook as a dining critic and food writer for The Dallas Morning News and D magazine. Fort Worth residents remember her as a talented actress who performed in community theater throughout their city. But she may best be remembered for her estate and the antiques and collectibles that fill her historic East Dallas home.

This sale harbors some amazing collectibles you don’t see everyday. It starts with a sterling silver invalid spoon with strainer ... a silver mesh purse (complete with tassel) ... pocket watches ... and of course MORE VINTAGE TOASTERS! But my absolute favorite is the boudoir acrylic vanity stool. It was the first I’ve seen. Fred was digging around and found an Omega pocket watch. And just this Thursday morning, Ralph called to tell us he found a "white" Singer Featherweight ... a truly rare find! Furniture lovers have to trek upstairs where they’ll find a large compartmentalized display cabinet that’s obviously out of an old mercantile. As we talked to Sadie ... she was enthused by the large Spanish combs (one looks to be real tortoiseshell). Everyone has their favorites. What will yours be?

Collectibles ... vintage toasters, a Charlie McCarthy dummy, sterling silver, art deco items, vintage men’s watches, sterling silver invalid spoon, vintage lingerie, a whet stone carrier, old typewriters (lots), an antique hand wrought protractor, antique hardware, a Scottie dog purse, vintage handbags (including alligator), embroidered foot stools, vintage aprons, a large cookbook collection, old photographs, a vintage board game (Dead Man’s Walk), vintage political memorabilia, old cameras, old paper, dresser sets, old fans (floor and table), vintage radios, a WWII campaign desk ... and a white Singer Featherweight!

Stars of the Sale ... two acrylic stools.

Pottery & China.

An Antique Organ

Furniture ... an antique folding bed, an antique folding chair, a double door bird’s eye maple armoire, a Victorian lamp table with marble top, several tiered tables, several vanity ... from art deco to mid-century modern, old chairs, a leather couch and club chair, a floor mirror (with claw feet), a large compartmentalized cabinet from an old mercantile, a 4-poster bed, a library table, an antique drop front desk, wooden file cabinets, metal file cabinets, a child’s ladder back rocker, old wicker, a marriage of chest-on-chest, a 4-section barrister bookcase.

Most people will never have an opportunity to see a sale like this ... don’t miss it!
